Watch: Barry Burton Returns in Resident Evil Revelations 2

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Selasa, 02 Desember 2014 | 19.51

Barry Burton, the surprise cult star of the first Resident Evil game, will be a lead character in the upcoming Resident Evil Revelations 2.

The classic S.T.A.R.S. operative, famous for his "Jill Sandwich" line, is revealed as a co-star for Revelations 2 in a new trailer from publisher Capcom (above). Joining him will be series mainstay Chris Redfield.

"Headed for the remote prison island in search of his missing daughter, Moira Burton, Barry meets brand new character Natalia Korda, a little girl who has a strange power that allows her to sense enemies and hidden items," Capcom writes.

"Using this skill alongside Barry's proven combat abilities, players will need to alternate between the two to survive the mysterious island and find Moira."

Capcom's plan for Resident Evil Revelations 2 is to split the game across four episodes, which will release between February and March. Bundled together, these episodes cost $25 / £20, or individually at $6 / £5 each.

The bundle offers bonus content, such as "two additional spin-off episodes that focus on telling the side stories of each of the two new Resident Evil characters: Moira Burton and Natalia Korda," as well as an additional RAID mode character, Hunk. These can be purchased separately too.

Meanwhile, new enemies come in the shape of the Rotten and The Revenant. Capcom explains: "The Rotten have bones that are visible through their bodies and stop at nothing to hunt down the living, and the horrific Revenant are formed from parts of human beings sewn together."

The release date details are below, and further down you'll find a selection of new images.

Classic '80s Console ZX Spectrum Reborn

Sir Clive Sinclair, the revered inventor and entrepreneur who launched a range of seminal home computers in the 1980s, has backed a new project to revive the ZX Spectrum brand.

His team's new invention is the Sinclair Spectrum Vega; a microconsole that comes with more than 1,000 ZX Spectrum games pre-installed. Resplendent with a familiar aesthetic, the Vega is a miniaturised version of the ZX Spectrum that is both a games controller and console in one.

Once hooked to television sets, the device is capable of running more than the 14,000 games developed during the Spectrum era.

Its creators, a UK firm called Retro Computers, seek £100,000 from the crowdfunding site Indiegogo to help commercialise the project and build the first 1,000 units.

Sinclair Research, the company responsible for the 1982 original, is a shareholder in Retro Computers.

Some 21 hours since the project launched, Retro Computers has raised about £6,800 of total funding. It will need to raise the remaining £93,000 within the next sixty days.

A ten percent royalty of Vega sales will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

UK Charts: Advanced Warfare Conquers Black Friday

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Senin, 01 Desember 2014 | 19.51

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare proved to be the biggest winner on the UK high street during Black Friday, as Activision's blockbuster FPS returns to top place in the all-format charts.

Sales monitor Chart-Track claims that Advanced Warfare has sold more copies during UK Black Friday than any other title since records began. It also notes that two-thirds of Advanced Warfare sales were for old-gen machines.

Meanwhile Super Smash Bros Wii U misses the top ten (there were local reports of stock shortages), entering at thirteenth. The position would have been lower had Chart-Track not grouped the Wii U version's sales with the 3DS's (the Wii U edition accounted for 81 per cent).

Curiously, although Chart-Track does group together Super Smash Bros on handheld and console, it doesn't do the same with Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. Those two games enter sixth and seventh respectively, though would have been third had they been counted together.

"Combined they also become the biggest Pokémon launch ever, beating previous best Pokémon Black and White Versions on DS back in 2011," Chart-Track notes.

In second place is EA's FIFA 15, another British mainstay buoyed by the shopping frenzy. Those two games push GTA 5 down to third.

Far Cry 4 is in forth, ahead of Assassin's Creed Unity. Meanwhile, last year's Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag surges 353% in sales thanks to various console bundle promotions, and hits ninth. Driveclub, meanwhile, climbs to eighth place with a tremendous 999% sales increase off the back of various PlayStation 4 promotions.

The full top ten follows:

  1. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  2. FIFA 15
  3. Grand Theft Auto 5
  4. Far Cry 4
  5. Assassin's Creed Unity
  6. Pokemon Omega Ruby
  7. Pokemon Alpha Sapphire
  8. Driveclub
  9. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
  10. Minecraft Xbox Edition

Nintendo to Discontinue 3DS XL in Japan

Nintendo is to cease manufacturing and selling 3DS XL systems in Japan, the corporation has announced, as part of its plan to focus the market on its next handheld.

The New Nintendo 3DS XL, which boasts upgraded technology and a right-hand analogue nub, launched in Japan on October 11 and shifted 230,000 units in its first two days.

Writing on its official website, as translated by Siliconera, Nintendo stated that it will cease production of its older XL model. However, it appears that the original 3DS will not be shelved.

Since the New Nintendo 3DS XL is currently only available in Japan and Australia, it's not likely that the older model will be discontinued elsewhere, for now. In a statement to GameSpot, the company wrote: "Nintendo 3DS XL is still available in Europe and no announcements have been made. "

Nintendo has yet to reveal a release date for the New 3DS XL across the UK or Europe, though it's on track for a 2015 launch.

Xbox One Halo Dev "100% Committed" to Fixing Matchmaking Woes

Top Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who oversees all of Microsoft's gaming endeavors, has again apologized for Halo: The Master Chief Collection's ongoing matchmaking issues. The Xbox One game, which was released three weeks ago, is still in rough shape for some, with players continuing to report longer-than-expected wait times to find a match and uneven teams when games are eventually found.

"I apologize for the issues," Spencer said on Twitter to a fan. "343 Industries is 100% committed to fixing and make it right for fans."

Immediately following The Master Chief Collection's release on November 11, players reported various matchmaking issues. Microsoft and 343 Industries have been quick to respond, and numerous updates have been released in hopes of improving the experience. The overall matchmaking experience has gotten better since launch, but it remains unreliable for some.

The Master Chief Collection's latest patch was deployed on November 27, though 343 Industries cautions that it still has more work to do. For more on The Master Chief Collection, check out GameSpot's review.

Why Warlords of Draenor Got Me Back into World of Warcraft

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Minggu, 30 November 2014 | 19.51

The only world of warcraft game that I REALLY played was the wrath of lich king. I loved the warcraft III and its expansion pack's campaigns, so the wrath of lich king's story made the game interesting to me. All the other games after that seemed a bit too randomized. I haven't played after lich king, so I maybe not the right person to start judging how WOW was, but it didn't captivate me to even start trying. (I was a heavy gamer back in the wrath of lich king days)

I rather played skyrim and fallout on my spare time.

This time, it kind of gets my attention, but I want to stay cautious and see the actual review first. I personally want to relate the warcraft III campaigns to WOW. The races' struggle to survive. The mysterious hidden powers that people sought. The emotional stories that made me feel personally attached. What WOW had more than that was it's grandness of exploration to see the WORLD of warcraft. It showed what it's like to live as a member of the warcraft universe.

ALL these combinations were great, but too many updates that made lots of short cuts made players less focus on the story, but rather seek for the best items. That is how I became addicted to the game and eventually quit it, because I could not afford myself to be constantly logged in to keep raiding with my guild members. Warcraft was never about the graphics, never about fancy combat systems. Though, it was about having every little system contain a meaning to it.

Warcraft lost its meaning to it, and wish it can bring it back to where it was.

Batman: Arkham Knight Devs Talk About Batman's Suit, Predator Challenges, and More

Batman: Arkham Knight developer Rocksteady held a Reddit Ask Me Anything yesterday where they answered some questions about the upcoming game as well as their previous entries in the series.

Reddit user dart278 asked why Batman's suit looks more robotic than it did in previous games.

RockSteady: "We wanted to highlight the interaction between Batman and the Batmobile - you'll see that the suit mirrors the design of the car in a lot of ways. The new suit impacts gameplay as well, as it enhances some of Batman's abilities, particularly in the way the Batman and the car work together."

ANBU_Spectre asked if Rocksteady added new combat moves and animations we didn't see in the previous games.

Rocksteady: "Zafer Coban and the rest of the animation team have been doing some amazing work on making combat look and feel awesome. For example, there's a scene toward the end of the Ace Chemicals Infiltration Part 1 Trailer where Batman faces off against two combat experts. Everything in that shot is taken straight from the game - we just shifted the camera to get a slightly more cinematic angle."

DanishxAssassin asked what's what's Rocksteady's favorite new addition to the game outside the batmobile.

Rocksteady: "It has to be the open city - now that we've got all of Gotham to explore it's a great experience. The City design team here has done an amazing job building an environment that's huge and intricately detailed. The detail in Arkham games was always my favourite thing about playing them before I joined Rocksteady, and it's awesome that the guys have managed to keep that level of care on something so much bigger."

Chilldude205 asked what changes Rocksteady made the game's Predator Challenges.

Rocksteady: "I think my favourite tweak to predator has to be size of some of the encounters. You're going to be taking on large, varied groups of armed guards. You'll need to be a serious predator expert if you want to complete those sections without alerts."

SPOILER ALERT for Batman: Arkham City ahead.

FogKnight22 asked if was harder to write the story for Arkham Knight given the events of Arkham City.

RockSteady: "I think it's quite the opposite! Sefton has said that when they started work on Batman: Arkham City, they had the vision of the final scene Joker's death almost from the start, and looked at the story from the perspective of the events that would lead to that point.

"With Batman: Arkham Knight, that ending is the point that we jump off from, asking 'what happens when Joker is removed from Gotham' and looking at the fallout from those events."

Finally, Rocksteady said it will release a new trailer for the game on Monday, 9 a.m. PST.

Arkham Knight launches in June 2015 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game was originally targeted to launch this fall, but developer Rocksteady pushed it back to add more polish.
