Microsoft has outlined a trio of new Xbox One features that will pop-up in its upcoming April update.

Chief among them is the ability for the console to reboot itself after system updates, and the option for users to manually search for, and install, new updates when available.

Also included will be 50Hz support for Blu-ray output and an update for the headset adapter that reduces audio static and improves wireless connectivity.

The new features will be made available to those in the Xbox One preview program in the next few days.

The Xbox One April update will also bring back friend notifications to Xbox Live, which pop-up when a friend signs in and starts a game. Microsoft has said notifications were of the most frequently requested features. Also includes are improvements to Kinect, GameDVR, and the display of game saves.

"We're committed to delivering innovation through system updates," said Xbox spokesperson Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb, "and I can't say enough how integral fan feedback is to this process. Some features previewed won't always make it to launch right away because we want to help ensure the best experience for our fans before pushing a new feature."
