Alienware Alpha - A Console or a PC?

@kgbinusa no it isn't. an upgradeable console would never work. one of the biggest advantages of consoles is that if you buy the hardware once, you're done. all the games in the whole generation will work on your console, and there's parity for everyone on that regard. if someone releases a console that gets obsolete in its own gen, that's stupidity and it would flop hard.

not to mention a second side effect, which is that as it is no longer a single unified hardware, devs wouldn't be able to squeeze so much of the performance of either hardware (just like pcs, which mostly get rotten extremely bad optmized ports that only runs decently because the hardware is vastly superior

i like pcs as much as the next guy (i own gaming pcs for over 20 years now, though nowadays they're hardly just for gaming), but consoles are their own thing, and it's good to keep some distance between.
