BioWare details save import options for Dragon Age: Inquisition

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Jumat, 30 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

BioWare has revealed a method for creating save files to use in its upcoming game, Dragon Age: Inquisition. Posted on the official BioWare Blog, Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah announced the Dragon Age Keep.

The Dragon Age Keep allows players to create a customised Dragon Age historical world state, which carries over choices made in Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II.

Players will be able to customise "as much or as little about the world of Thedas" using the Dragon Age Keep. This customised world state will then be possible to import into Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Darrah also stated that importing game saves is an issue that BioWare is "continuing to investigate". In particular, how saves from previous games could be utilised to "populate the initial world state of the Dragon Age Keep". Darrah did not specify whether importing saves directly into Dragon Age: Inquisition will be possible.

Fans interested in the Dragon Age Keep can sign up for the beta on the site. The Dragon Age Keep is scheduled for public launch in 2014.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third major title in BioWare's fantasy role-playing game series, Dragon Age. BioWare has confirmed that players will be able to create characters from multiple races. Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2014.

Microsoft announces Forza Rewards

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced Day One Edition versions of some of its major first- and third-party software, including Forza Motorsport 5. While early adopters will receive bonus vehicles, livery, and tuning, today the publisher announced plans for a longer-term system with benefits for fans who have already, and will continue to invest time playing the series, called Forza Rewards.

"By playing Forza games, you earn points in Forza Rewards. The more points you earn, the higher your Tier level, and the higher your Tier level, the better rewards you can earn," the post on the Xbox blog says. "Each month, you can redeem rewards in games like Forza Motorsport 4 and Forza Horizon, including cars, in-game credits, tokens, and more."

Players will be able to monitor their progression on the Forza Rewards website. Forza games dating back to Forza Motorsport 2, as well as the upcoming Xbox One exclusive, Forza Motorsport 5, will support the system. Also available will be the option to compare your success against others on your friends list.

Forza Motorsport 5 will launch alongside the Xbox One console this November.

Zoo Tycoon: Elephant Hugging 101

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Minggu, 25 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

I was thinking I might want this for an old school Tycoon experience, but I'm confused.  He says that game is still there, but then later he says if you hate Kinect and/or casual games, you won't like it.  If it's actually still a Tycoon game that just has the added ability to get down into the Kinect mode and do stuff, that's fine, but I'm not sure what to think now.

CRYENGINE Demo

So judging by the all caps and logo, this is the new CRYENGINE (no numbers after the name).  One thing that stood out, that puddle of water drying up over time.  Not just because it looked good and was supposedly procedural and not scripted, but I don't recall any game where water dries/evapourates in realtime.

PS: When I saw the Statue of Liberty's head, first thing I thought, "YOu maniacs!  You blew it up!  Ahhh, god damn you!  God damn you all ta hell!" :)

Payday 2 Review

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Sabtu, 24 Agustus 2013 | 19.52

In crime, as in game development, things don't always go as planned. A suspicious passerby might call the cops in early, and then those cops might phase through a wall. The loot you expect to find might not be there, and the end-of-heist reward you're hoping for might never arrive. Civilians might try to flee in the middle of a firefight, or they might disappear through the floor. And yet, despite the potential pitfalls and the actual flaws of Payday 2, things have a way of coming together. The tension of planning and keeping things quiet, the excitement of asserting control when all hell breaks loose, and the satisfaction of a successful score outshine any dull spots, making Payday 2 an immensely enjoyable way to team up for a life of crime.

Looks like SOMEONE forgot to defuse the BOMBS on the BUS!!

As part of the four-man crew of Hoxton, Chains, Dallas, and Wolf, you are contracted to do jobs by a dude named Bain. He sets you up with various shady characters and presents you with a city map of constantly changing opportunities. There are around 10 distinct jobs that pop up regularly with varying difficulty levels that affect how hard and how lucrative they will be. Some are stand-alone gigs, like bank heists, store robberies, and nightclub burglaries, while others span multiple days and involve stealing art, cooking meth, transporting drugs, dealing with gang members, and stealing from senators.

Mission objectives are generally clear, though there are a number of subtleties to contend with as well. Some challenges can be mastered by experience; it won't take you long to memorize the floor plan of the bank, and you quickly become familiar with the penalty for setting off alarms in the art gallery. Others require you to be flexible; cameras and security guards aren't always in the same place, and even doors, safes, and getaway spots can vary from mission to mission. This mix of constancy and variability does a great job of making you feel more confident with each mission while simultaneously keeping you on your toes. You can never be perfectly prepared for a job, and that's the way it should be.

Unfortunately, there are also some things that are more difficult to prepare for. Strange happenings with civilian and police character models, walls that you can pull solid objects through, and other technical oddities crop up throughout Payday 2. They usually have only minor effects on your criminal activity, but they do add a sour note to the otherwise welcome unpredictability. Such issues aren't likely to derail your heists, but they are occasionally enough to turn your stealthy infiltration into a messy affair.

Keeping things quiet is one of the biggest challenges of Payday 2 because so much can go wrong. A suspicious civilian might see you put on your mask. A security camera might spot you at a distance. A guard might round the corner when you're not expecting it. The guy on the radio might not believe you when you pretend to be the guard you just knocked out. Or someone, somewhere might hear the tinkling of broken glass, and before you know it, the cops are on their way and your escape van has bugged out. Completing a job without the cavalry showing up triggers a rush of giddy satisfaction, but more often than not, you're going to have to shoot your way out.

Once the alarm has sounded, the cops are on their way, but you can still manage the situation. Taking civilian hostages delays the armed escalation, keeping the really tough enemies at bay for a while. Moving your loot to a defensible position, closing the metal shutters on a store, or finding planks to board up a window can help you hold out while you wait for your drill or lock pick or computer hack to work its magic. Meanwhile, the cops come at you, and you gun them down in droves. The gunplay is solid and the AI is aggressive, but combat is more of a war of attrition than a contest of skill. Stick around long enough, and you will inevitably be overrun, no matter how skillfully you delay and fend off the advancing waves. On tougher jobs, there is more loot to grab than you can easily get away with, tempting you to try to hold out a bit longer to get a fatter payday. Get too greedy, however, and all is lost. Payday 2 channels this classic criminal conundrum nicely, right down to the heated mid-battle disagreements between team members.

Video Review - Payday 2

A good video review Chris. Very detailed.

It is the First Person aspect of the game that puts me off of it. Does it have to be in that view?

Judging by he comments here being at ZERO, I'm guessing not many others are interested? Which is a shame.

Their timing is a wee bit off though, I mean GTA V is around the corner and it has Bank Heists in it too... and then some!

I'll keep an eye out never the less.

So You Wanna Be a Witcher?

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Kamis, 22 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

The thing that I really like about Witcher games is that enemies don't scale up and you can always do secondary quests , make your character strong and can come back to kick their asses . It's also perfect way to handle open world and fits perfectly with story driven game . Skyrim was great but main problem of it was that , enemy scales up with you and even in secondary quests you have to travel long distances which opens up entire map and once you are done with them then game becomes little repetitive .

1- Open Map

2- Fast Travel

3- Do Quest

4- Collect reward

In Witcher 3 you'll progress with story , yes you can go to other islands but enemies there will be more difficult and there are point of interest on each island that allows you to explore the island on which you are right now , world opens up as main story progresses .

Saints Row IV to be released in Australia September 12

Australian distributor All Interactive Entertainment (AIE) today confirmed the new release date for upcoming open-world action game Saints Row IV. Originally scheduled for release on August 22, the game will be available from September 12 for the PC and Xbox 360 and September 19 for the PlayStation 3.

Customers who pre-order Saints Row IV at Australian retailers and pick up the game within 48 hours of its launch will receive a free Presidential Pack DLC code, as a "thank you to fans for their patience".

The Presidential Pack DLC contains aesthetic customisations for the president of the United States, enabling players to dress him as former American leaders.

Saints Row IV was refused classification twice by the Australian Classification Board, banning it from sale in the country. The game was initially refused classification for its "implied sexual violence" and use of illicit drugs referred to as "alien narcotics".

Publisher Koch Media launched an appeal on the Australian Classification Board's decision, which upheld the ban on the grounds of in-game drug use.

A modified version of the game with the drug-themed mission taken out was submitted for classification and eventually granted an MA15+ rating.

Saints Row IV launched in North America on August 20. The game was positively received in GameSpot's review, praised for its fun combat abilities and "very funny writing".

Titanfall: 1. Danny's Mind: 0.

Last year I felt that there was some serious fatigue in the FPS genre and that perhaps it was on its way out as the dominant game genre (there was a time when FPS didn't dominate, remember guys!?).

However, starting early in the year with BioShock, and now looking at games like Titanfall, Destiny and other attempts to mix it up in the FPS genre, I think the future is pretty bright.

And at the same time, DICE is busy fine tuning BF into what looks to be one of their best releases yet and CoD: Ghosts even looks like they're trying to do some new things.

My faith in the FPS genre as a whole had definitely been restored somewhat!

Nintendo readying Wind Waker HD Wii U hardware pack; new Pokemon 3DS XL consoles on the way.

Nintendo may be preparing to release a new Wii U hardware bundle, according to retail sources, as reported by Destructoid.

A tipster inside US retail chain Target provided the heads up, following the appearance of a $349.99 package that will reportedly feature both a 32GB Deluxe edition of the struggling console and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

The source also claimed that Nintendo is readying new 3DS XL packs in preparation for upcoming role-playing games Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. Available in either Red or Blue, no specifics were given on which coloured device would include which game, but the system has reportedly been priced at $199.99. No release date information was given.

Nintendo declined to comment on the alleged leak, saying that the company does not comment on rumour or speculation. Both games are currently slated for October releases.

PlayStation 3 version of Disney Infinity locking up

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Senin, 19 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

PS3 version of toy-based game freezing during play; game's producer recommends deleting 1.01 software patch while resolution is being worked on.

The PlayStation 3 version of newly released toy-based game Disney Infinity is experiencing technical difficulties on the platform, according to posts on the official PlayStation 3 support forum.

Multiple users (via Kotaku) have reported that the game locks up as soon as a user places a Disney Infinity figurine onto the base. The game's producer, John Vignocchi, has recommended on Twitter that players delete the game's launch-day 1.01 patch.

Owners of the game should note that online play will not be available without the software update. The patch prompt screen will also continue to pop up for several minutes unless users disconnect their PS3s from the internet.

Disney has issued a statement about the problem on the Disney Infinity Facebook page, stating that this is not a software-related issue, and that the company is currently seeking to resolve it. No similar issues have been detected on the Xbox 360 and Wii U versions of the game so far.

Ubisoft unveils Final Fantasy and Limbo inspired Child of Light

By Martin Gaston and Peter Brown

Developer Patrick Plourde unveils the first glimpse of Child of Light at GDC Europe 2013.

Ubisoft has shown a first glimpse of Child of Light, a downloadable title currently being developed at Ubisoft Montreal.

Speaking at a panel at GDC Europe, the game's developer Patrick Plourde--who was also the creative director on Far Cry 3--said Child of Light has been heavily inspired by the styles of Ghibli and Yoshitaka Amano, as well as classic Squaresoft PS1 RPG's Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy VIII.

Plourde said Child of Light will be a side-scroller that features RPG elements like stat growth and an epic "opera" story. The game will also feature co-op play.

The game is being designed as a "light" and "feminine" counterpoint to the male-focused games Plourde has previously worked on, and Plourde added that a third of the Child of Light development team is female.

Child of Light is being built using the UbiArt Framework, the same engine powering Rayman Legends and Rayman Origins. Plourde described it as a playable poem.

Platforms were not mentioned, but Plourde said he pitched the game to Ubisoft as a next-gen IP and confirmed the game would not be coming to mobile. Child of Light is due to be released in Winter 2013.

Plourde also added that Ubisoft was developing another unannounced game with the UbiArt Framework alongside Child of Light.

Batman: Arkham Origins ditches GFWL for Steam on PC

Batman: Arkham Origins on PC will be first in the series to use Steamworks as opposed to Games for Windows Live, Warner Bros. has confirmed.

Batman: Arkham Origins on the PC will not require the use of Microsoft's Games for Windows Live, Warner Bros. has confirmed.

The PC version of the game will instead use Valve's Steamworks to manage achievements and multiplayer, Warner Bros. has said to IGN. Both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City previously used the GFWL service on PC.

Warner Bros. did not mention if Batman: Arkham Origins would make use of other Steamworks features, such as cloud saves, Steam Trading Cards, and Big Picture support.

The single-player portion of Batman: Arkham Origins is being developed by Warner Bros. Montreal, with the multiplayer component being handled by UK developer Splash Damage.

Last week Microsoft confirmed that its efforts to retire its Microsoft Points currency would mean that GFWL users will soon be unable to purchase games from the Xbox.com store.

The recently-unveiled Batman: Arkham Origins collector's edition will also be unavailable on PC when the game launches on October 25.

Call of DutyƂ’s Bid to Stay on Top

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Kamis, 15 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

Chris Watters checks out Call of Duty: Ghosts for the first time and sees how its competitive multiplayer suite aims to straddle the console generation gap.

The next generation of consoles is nigh upon us and like many big games this fall, Call of Duty: Ghosts is releasing on both current and next-gen platforms. This puts the developer, Infinity Ward, in the tricky position of delivering equal experiences to consumers on both platforms; any perceived differences beyond the expected graphical gap are likely to be judged harshly in the court of public opinion. Infinity Ward must up their game to keep the venerable franchise relevant on the new systems without outpacing the aging hardware of the old ones.

Modest changes aren't going to cut it. The newly announced Cranked mode throws more fuel on the fire of the already frenetic action by amping up players' speed when they get a kill and then sticking them with a 30-second countdown; if they fail to notch another kill in time, they explode. Search and Rescue combines the tension of the respawn-less Search and Destroy mode with the dog tag collection from Kill Confirmed, creating a battlefield where teamwork is even more powerful. While these changes make for exciting matches, they are ultimately small variations on the theme, incremental tweaks to the action that players have enjoyed for years. At today's multiplayer event in Los Angeles, however, Infinity Ward and Activision revealed a few bigger steps that they are hoping will preserve Call of Duty's relevance--and dominance--in a changing world.

A New Engine

Just because it's on the same consoles we've had for the better part of a decade doesn't mean there isn't room to squeeze more out of those old systems. Infinity Ward has developed a new engine to power the speedy, silky 60 frames per second that the franchise so proudly touts. With baked-in technologies to make guns more realistic, textures more lifelike, and lighting more dynamic, this new engine aims to boost the visual fidelity of the action, even on the current gen.

It also creates some extra wiggle room to do things that Infinity Ward hasn't done before. Player customization was a big focus of the multiplayer debut presentation. For the first time, Call of Duty will allow players to design their own soldier by choosing from a variety of uniforms, helmets, face models, skin tones, and genders. This may seem like little more than playing dress up with dolls to some players, but a more visually diverse army will be a welcome changes to the randomly generated homogeneity of Call of Duty.

And it's not just about looks. Scoped-in players will now have some blurry peripheral vision to allow them increased situational awareness, thanks to a "dual render system." Furthermore, the new engine allows developers to add in dynamic events on multiplayer maps that open up new tactical routes, cause strategic destruction, or rework the structure of the level entirely. Similar events have been happening in online battlefields for years, from the environmental changes of Gears of War 3 to the destructibility of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. If Ghosts is going to carry the standard for the franchise into the next generation, it's going to have to build on the dynamic elements we've seen already in this generation.

Reaching Out to Veterans and Newcomers Alike

Ghosts introduces a new loadout structure which allows players to purchase multiple soldiers for their profile. Each soldier will level up independently and have their own loadouts; time playing with one does not benefit the others. This is meant in part to replace the prestige system. Rather than wiping your unlocks when you hit a certain level, you can preserve your kitted-out combatant and move on to a new soldier.

Aside from the obvious benefit of letting you keep all your goodies available, this system fuels the new squad play modes. In one such mode, a player faces off against another player in a five-on-five match. Each player only controls one soldier on their team, but the rest of the team consists of the other soldiers in his or her profile. You determine the loadout for your teammates and then the overhauled AI sends them into the field with a corresponding set of tactics. In another mode, you team up with other human players to take on an AI squad that someone has kitted out and placed on a map and mode of their choosing. You and your AI squad can also take on other AI squads if you prefer to be the only sentient player on the battlefield.

Growing the player base is more important than ever for Call of Duty as the new consoles tempt lapsed or new players into to world of gaming. The squad system seems poised to offer something new to both veteran prestige-seekers and folks who haven't prestiged at all. Fighting alongside the soldiers you've put a lot of time into customizing seems like a cool way to keep all your progress relevant, while facing off against only AI provides the kind of accessibility offered by combat training mode in Black Ops. The pressure of online competition could be significantly abated when you know you aren't facing angry backlash from enemies or allies for a subpar performance, and this could be the kind of welcome that reluctant players need to enjoy the competitive action. Growing the player base is more important than ever for Call of Duty as the new consoles tempt lapsed or new players into to world of gaming.

Building on Treyarch's Innovations

In last year's Black Ops II, Treyarch reinvented the way loadouts work with the pick 10 system. Pick 10 was a great way to inject some life and flexibility into the aging loadout system, and Infinity Ward is taking what Treyarch did and applying it to an overhauled perk system. Perks are now assigned a numerical value from one to five based on how impactful the development team judges them to be. Players have eight points to work with and must calculate how to best spend them. Selecting a suite of perks to complement your play style is nothing new, but the flexibility carried over from Black Ops II should make for more diverse battlefields (especially if players opt to leave a weapon or two behind in favor of more perks).

Another Treyarch concept that Infinity Ward has made their own is COD points. Appearing only in Black Ops, this currency allowed players a certain degree of choice over what guns they unlocked, rather than setting all players on the same unlock path. For Call of Duty: Ghosts, Infinity Ward is introducing squad points and removing the tiered restrictions imposed by COD points. Now, all a player needs in order to unlock any gun they want is enough squad points to pay for it.

These two iterations move player customization towards a more open, flexible model, creating some breathing room in a system that has long thrived on the tightly restricted doling out of rewards. Changes like these help these systems branch out further from the family tree. The fewer elements that remain largely unchanged from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the more it feels like Ghosts is actively plotting its own course, rather than simply riding on the coattails of its predecessors.

Bridging the Gap

Though players will be limited to playing only against opponents on the same console or system (as is appropriate, given the gulfs in processing power), Ghosts will bridge the gap between the console generations. Progress you make for your squad members on the PlayStation 3 can be transferred to your PlayStation 4, should you decide to upgrade (ditto for the Xbox 360/Xbox One). This is done through your Call of Duty account, which is a step up from Call of Duty Elite. All the stat-tracking and loadout customization options from that premium service will be carried over, along with the ability to continue progress within a given family of consoles. Of course, it'd be even better if you could carry that progress across console lines, but only time will tell if Activision is able to negotiate such a technological--and political--feat.

The fewer elements that remain intact from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the more it feels like Ghosts is actively plotting its own course…Call of Duty is also keeping up with next generation trends by offering all of this data tracking, customization, and social media sharing through an app. This so-called "second screen experience" is developed by Beachhead Studio, the folks responsible for Call of Duty Elite, and includes such additions as a touch-based emblem editor and the ability to select, in-game, the loadout for your next respawn.

The app also contains a broader metagame called Clan Wars. Host to the robust clan system that aims to stoke the fires of competition, Clan Wars takes data from clan matches and uses it to inform a game of territorial conquest. Every two weeks, clans of comparable skill are placed in a group and challenged to fight over territories by playing different game modes in Ghosts. At the end of the fortnight, clans are awarded unlocks and other virtual goodies for successful conquests. Between Clan Wars and a partnership with Major League Gaming, organized competition is clearly a big part of Call of Duty's bid to stay on top of the heap in 2014.

This is a challenging year for developers, especially those working on yearly franchises, and it seems that Infinity Ward had this in mind when outlining their vision for Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer during the reveal event. The next generation of consoles holds the potential to be very disruptive for the reigning titan of the FPS genre, and it'll be interesting to see what new elements Activision chooses to focus on at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany next week, and in the months leading up to the November 5th release of Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Rabu, 14 Agustus 2013 | 19.52

The PC version of upcoming fighting game Ultra Street Fighter IV will ship "around the same time" as its console counterparts, and will swap Games for Windows Live for Steamworks support, according to posts from Capcom staff (via NeoGAF).

Capcom digital media specialist Neidel "Haunts" Crisan confirmed the news on Twitter, answering questions about whether the PC version of the game will launch later than its Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 cousins, saying, "Yes the intention is to have them all launch at around the same time. Should have more deets on PC very soon."

In response to further queries about whether the game will ditch Microsoft's Games for Windows Live service in favour of Valve's Steamworks platform, he replied "It's coming to Steam, yes, we'll be transitioning from GFWL to Steam."

Ultra Street Fighter IV was announced during this year's annual EVO fighting tournament, and will feature five new playable characters, six new stages, and a range of gameplay tweaks and balance changes when it launches in 2014.

Blizzard opens site for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls

Blizzard has opened a teaser site for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, ahead of its "special announcement" at Gamescom 2013 next week.

The site's trailer features the caption "death, at last, shall spread its wings over all," with the site's HTML showing Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls trademarks. The quote is also printed in the original Diablo font.

Blizzard has confirmed that it will be holding a press conference at Gamescom on Wednesday August 21.

Yesterday, Blizzard filed a trademark for "The Down Below," with many speculating that it would be the title of a Diablo III expansion.

An invitation sent by Blizzard to media last month said "we're making a special announcement that's sure to capture the attention of the Heavens, Burning Hells, and all the shadowed places that lie between."

Blizzard Entertainment president and co-founder Mike Morhaime has also said the company's Gamescom announcement would be Diablo-related.

Gamescom will run from August 21 to August 25 in Cologne, Germany.

Three more executives leave Zynga

Three major Zynga executives have left the social gaming giant, CEO Don Mattrick has confirmed.

The Farmville creator's ongoing shake-up now means that chief technology officer Cadir Lee, chief operating officer David Ko, and chief people officer Colleen McCreary are no longer at the company.

A Bloomberg report last month said that another three top executives--senior vice president John Osvald, casino division vice president Jesse Janosov, and vice president Nathan Etter--were no longer working at Zynga.

The restructuring is being captained by CEO Don Mattrick, who joined Zynga in July after years as the Xbox boss at Microsoft.

"We are taking layers out of the executive rank to get senior leaders closer to important product initiatives," said Don Mattrick in an e-mail to all employees. "With that in mind, I have asked the leaders to sharpen their focus and properly densify talent to resource teams."

Mattrick went on to thank Lee, Ko, and McCreary for their work at the company. "Each person has contributed to the growth of Zynga and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cadir Lee for his dedication in the creation of a world class technical organization during his 5 year tenure, Colleen for her work with our recruitment and people process over the last 4 years, and David Ko for the 3 years that he spent in leading various teams across the organization."

"We appreciate their contributions to Zynga's first chapter and wish them well in their future endeavors."

Prior to Mattrick joining the company, Zynga let go 500 of its staff and closed three offices. Last week it shut down developer Draw Something developer OMGPOP, after acquiring the studio in 2012 for $180 million.

39 million people now play Zynga games on a daily basis, with the company's most recent financial results confirming that daily users have dropped by over 50 percent in the last year.

Preorders open for $499 gaming treadmill

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Senin, 12 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

Preorders have opened for the Virtuix Omni Natural Motion Interface, the Kickstarter-funded omnidirectional gaming treadmill that offers full virtual reality when combined with an Oculus Rift.

The hardware is expected to ship in March 2014.

Customers purchasing the $499 package will get the Omni platform, shoes, belt, and tracking hardware and software. A second package is available for $1019, which includes two treadmill packages and a third pair of socks.

Additional shipping costs will be levied once the device is ready to ship.

The Texas-based Virtuix took its Omni to Kickstarter in June 2013, asking for $150,000 to fund the project and eventually raising a barnstorming $1.1 million.

"We are in the midst of a revolution in virtual reality," wrote Virtuix in June. "The release of affordable head mounted displays and low-cost sensor technologies has brought the decades-old dream of true virtual reality closer than ever, but there's still one more piece to the puzzle: the Omni."

Consumer availability for the Omni's natural companion device, the Oculus Rift VR headset, has yet to be announced. Last week the company announced that programming legend John Carmack had joined Oculus VR in a full-time role as chief technology officer.

WWE 2K14 adds "30 Years of Wrestlemania" mode

2K Sports today announced an all-new single-player campaign mode for WWE 2K14 called "30 Years of Wrestlemania."

The mode will allow players to relive the "greatest" moments and matches in WWE history. This includes Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant (Wrestlemania III, 1987), The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan (Wrestlemania 18, 2002), and The Rock vs. John Cena (Wrestlemania 28, 2012).

In all, WWE 2K14's 30 Years of Wrestlemania features 45 matches spread through five WWE eras.

The matches will also include "unique presentation elements" that will be historically accurate. Players will see arenas, crowds, entrances, and visuals match "exactly" with how they looked in the 1980s and 1990s.

In addition, video packages have been created for the game mode, 2K Sports said, that will refresh storylines of the iconic fights for gamers.

The 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode will also feature historical in-game objectives, allowing players to unlock other characters, arenas, and WWE archive photography by completing certain tasks.

2K Sports did not announce if historically accurate commentary teams will be in place for the 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode. Details on commentary teams will be shared later.

Another 2K Sports title, NBA 2K12, featured a "Greatest" mode that also allowed players to travel back through virtual time to control iconic characters. EA Sports' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 included a similar game mode, where players could "step into the past" and play courses from history with golf legends.

WWE 2K14 launches October 29 in North America and November 1 in Europe for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The full roster for 30 Years of Wrestlemania will be revealed on Saturday, August 17 at 12:30 p.m. PDT through the 2K Twitch channel.

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Minggu, 11 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

Another classic.

I am sorry to keep asking this of you lads but could you please tell me...

When are you doing the Falskaar mod?

It's been a few weeks now, since you said Seb that it will be next week.

I understand that it's a huge mod and more time may be needed to allow your Top 5 show to do it some justice.

I have to ask because then if I keep going on about it, then perhaps one day the Falskaar mod will make an appearance.

If others also wish to see it, as I do?

Divinity: Dragon Commander Review

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Sabtu, 10 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

Divinity: Dragon Commander is an unexpected delight. This prequel to Larian Studio's Divinity series of role-playing games skillfully merges real-time and turn-based strategy with RPGs, arcade action, and the cutthroat world of politics (both modern and medieval). Somehow this mixture works--and it probably has something to do with the ability to play as a jetpack-wearing Dragon.

While blazing around as dragon is certainly fun, the intriguing part of the game is the campaign's role-playing aspect. The story follows the exploits of an unnamed half-human, half-dragon prince who must defeat his depraved siblings to seize control of his late father's war-ravaged empire. In between turns on the strategic map, you traverse your ship and converse with the characters on board in a manner similar to Starcraft II, except that in Dragon Commander, these interactions are fleshed out with options and consequences. Early on, you receive a retinue of generals, each of whom has personal issues. How you handle these can benefit the empire, improve a general's stats, or, conversely, cause major problems for the war effort.

Emperors-to-be must also delve into the cutthroat world of politics. The various non-human races of the empire send emissaries to the royal court, and their support can impact the war. The undead are religious zealots; the dwarves are plutocratic capitalists; the lizard folk tend to be liberals who promote individual freedom; imps are simple technocrats; and elves are radical egalitarians and staunch environmentalists. Every few turns, there is a council meeting where legislation is brought up for the emperor's consideration. These issues tend to mirror contemporary political concerns like gay marriage, euthanasia, medicinal marijuana, gun control, and genetically modified foods. Each ambassador gives their take on the legislation, and you must choose between your own personal positions, the seemingly greater good, or the most popular position amongst the council members.

While decisions often merely affect relations with different races, some have tangible strategic effects, like a conscription law that reduces the cost of purchasing units. These laws can lead to humorous situations beyond the always-amusing impotent rage of displeased ambassadors. For example, you could follow the elf line and agree to allow trade unions, increase the pay of workers, and give them state funded holiday--and then go along with the imps' plan to lobotomize workers for greater productivity.

Another noteworthy aspect of the story is the royal marriage that you must take part in. At first, the choice of a bride influences race relations, but eventually, there are story segments in which you can sway your chosen bride. For example, as per elven customs, the elf princess is a strict vegetarian and environmentalist, refrains from the consumption of alcohol, and opposes personality cults due to her egalitarian ideals. Through conversations, she can be turned into a meat-eating alcoholic who poses nude for statues of herself and supports genetically modified foods. Then, her corruption complete, you can sacrifice her for personal gain and move on to the next wife.

Outside of these political aspects, Dragon Commander's campaign is similar to campaigns from the Total War series. There is a turn-based strategic mode where you build armies and buildings, conquer provinces, earn cards that affect battle, buy unit and dragon upgrades, and make combat moves. Rivals are defeated once their capitals are conquered and all of their remaining land, gold, research points, and units fall under the player's control. Once all enemy capitals have fallen, the game enters the next chapter and a new map. Unfortunately, this is an often disappointing transition, as the player unceremoniously drops into a new campaign map without a hard-won territory's cash, research, and card flow. This frustration can be avoided by banking gold, points, and cards before crushing the last capital. Incidentally, banking is also a good way to get more opportunities to boost (or destroy) race relations.

Unoccupied provinces fall without a fight, and capturing neutral territories bequeaths you with free units. However, most turns involve at least one battle. You can either resolve combat automatically or fight in RTS mode, but you must make this decision carefully, because the dragon commander can only fight in one battle per turn. Likewise, the generals may only lead troops in one auto-resolved battle per turn, which leaves most battles in the imperial army's hands. Before combat begins, the game displays your chance of winning the engagement. This can be altered by selecting a general to lead the combat and playing various cards that grant advantages like mercenary troops, buffs for particular types of units, or the use of dragon powers that have not been researched.

Changes to upcoming Independent Games Festival announced

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Jumat, 09 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

This year's Independent Games Festival (IGF) has been subject to a few new changes, organisers have announced on Gamasutra.

Chairman Brandon Boyer has revealed several changes to be made to the upcoming Independent Games Festival, which will run during the 2014 Game Developers Conference (GDC).

Boyer detailed the changes to the coming show, as well as reiterating changes that came into effect at the most recent IGF.

Going forward, the category for Technical Excellence will be removed, which Boyer put down to the "rise of widespread, affordable middleware".

The removal of the category for Technical Excellence has allowed for an increase from five to six finalists for the remaining categories, which includes visual art, audio, design, narrative, and the Seumas McNally grand prize.

The Student Showcase and Nuovo Awards will remain unchanged, with eight finalists selected per category and Honorable Mentions made for each award.

The previous year's biggest change disallowing previous IGF finalists to re-enter the same game will continue to be in effect. The rule applies to both the Main and Student categories, and prevents former Student Showcase games from entering the Main category. Entrants in the previous year whose game did not become a finalist in either Student or Main categories are permitted to re-enter their game.

Past IGF finalists and winners include Braid, World of Goo, Super Meat Boy, Minecraft, and Fez. Valve previously granted all IGF finalists an opportunity to accept a distribution deal through digital distribution platform Steam.

The 2014 Independent Games Festival will take place on March 19 next year in San Francisco, California, as part of the annual Game Developers Conference.

BioShock Infinite DLC's playable Elizabeth won't be "Booker in a dress"

Irrational Games has spoken about playing as Elizabeth in the upcoming BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea DLC, saying that the team is working on making sure the sequences don't feel like playing "Booker in a dress."

"With the player getting the opportunity to see how Liz is experiencing the world through first person, we have to be ever so careful to not betray what the player has already experienced of Liz in Infinite and what they're going to experience of Liz in the first part of the DLC," said level designer Amanda Jeffrey in an interview with IGN.

BioShock Infinite's Burial at Sea, which is set in Rapture as opposed to BioShock Infinite's Columbia, is split over two parts, with the perspective changing from Booker to Elizabeth at the conclusion of the first chapter.

"That's always foremost in our mind, because Liz is such a different character to Booker, and if we were to just put Booker in a dress, then that would be the most awful betrayal of what we're doing for Liz, and players would just feel like it was a cheap way out, and that's not something that we want to do. So we don't have all of the answers yet for it, but we are very, very, very much aware of all of the dangers that we need to try and avoid."

According to Jeffrey, Elizabeth's sequences might even avoid combat entirely. "Elizabeth has to take things more from the side view," she said. "She needs to be kind of thinking in a roundabout way of how to deal with her enemies. And, sometimes, that might mean completely bypassing the enemy entirely, because she doesn't need to."

The switch between Booker and Elizabeth is triggered by a particular event, said Irrational Games boss Ken Levine. "I'm not gonna say what happens, but at the end of the first part of Burial at Sea, Elizabeth goes into another sort of realization and, to put you then in her shoes, we thought was gonna be something very powerful," he said.

Liz in Burial at Sea will also be aware of the events of BioShock Infinite, Levine adds. "She is very much Elizabeth, but also has a character. She's affected. She's definitely changed by what she's done. I will say certainly you are picking up after the events of Infinite, and this is a person who has seen all the things you've seen in Infinite, and that's had an effect on her."

Jeffrey also spoke about how the player will be able to control Liz's unique tear abilities. "I hesitate to say too much about what we have just now," she said, "because it's entirely possible it will change in the next few weeks. I will say, though, that Elizabeth and her tear abilities are not necessarily a 'win button.'"

"She has an understanding of this universe and the various universes that she can visit, and she knows, once again, constants and variables. There are some things that she can change, and some things that just won't make a difference if she changes them or not. So she's not entirely godlike in her abilities. She will have far more powerful ways of interacting with the world than we saw in Infinite proper, but at the same time, it won't just be a case of walking to a space and going, 'I'm just going to press a button, and now happy ending for everyone!' Because, on the one hand, that wouldn't be any fun. And on the other hand, I think that, unfortunately, things are never gonna be that easy for Liz. She has to fight for her happy endings. She's never that happy."

Payday 2 turns a profit from preorders alone

Starbreeze Studios CEO says "not only have we managed to deliver a desirable product in Payday 2 but also executed a promotion that few companies of our size can."

Starbreeze Studio's upcoming co-op heist caper Payday 2 is already turning a profit for the studio, despite the game not being out for another week.

Preorders of the game have covered the money invested by publisher 505 Games six days before the game's official launch, according to Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson-Klint. Payday 2 will be released for PC on August 13, with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions being rolled out later that week.

"Today Starbreeze has once again demonstrated that our strategy of focusing on our own properties is correct," said Andersson-Klint in a statement (translated from Swedish by Gamechup). "Not only have we managed to deliver a desirable product in Payday 2 but also executed a promotion that few companies of our size can."

"We now look forward to the royalty income that can secure the company's development of its own IP in the future. That Payday 2 generates revenue for the company six days before the release is of course very unusual for games of this size and strengthens the long-term nature of our strategy."

Payday 2 lead designer David Goldfarb said in June that Payday 2 would not feature microtransactions.

Upcoming action game collection to be published by Xseed Games; out on 3DS eShop only.

Publisher Xseed has announced that it will be publishing the side-scrolling female ninja-themed action game Senran Kagura Burst on the 3DS (via Siliconera).

The North American version will contain both localized versions of Senran Kagura: Shojo-tachi no Shinei and Senran Kagura Burst: Guren no Shojo-tachi as one download via the 3DS eShop online store. The games, which features a gratuitous presentation style for its all-female ninja cast, will be out in North America this fall.

Players battle rival ninjas and bosses in side-scrolling beat-em-up form, using one of the five primary students from two of the game's underground ninja academy. The Japanese voice-overs will remain intact for the North American release, with English subtitles translating the dialogue.

A PlayStation Vita spin-off called Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus was out earlier this year, with no plans for a North American localization at this point in time.

Dragon Age: Inquisition sees return of multiple player races

Dragon Age: Inquisition will allow players to create characters from multiple races, developer BioWare has confirmed.

The developer spoke about the next entry of the fantasy RPG series in the latest issue of Game Informer, saying that the studio was addressing fan criticism of the second game for the sequel.

The original Dragon Age: Origins allowed players to create a character from a range of races. Its sequel, Dragon Age II, forced players into the role of a human named Hawke.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will also introduce mounts into the series, and reintroduce customisable armour.

In the game, the player will take the role as the head of the Inquisition, an organisation formed to confront evil and corruption in the land of Thedas.

"As the game begins, the Inquisition has plenty to investigate. War, scheming, and political strife have left the major power groups in the Dragon Age universe unable to operate effectively, which is a problem when a hole opens in the sky and demons begin pouring out. Players must fight back against the demonic threat while exploring a vast world and consolidating power for the growing Inquisition," said Game Informer's report.

"Large and varied environments, customisable armor, and the return of multiple player races are just a few of the ways BioWare is addressing feedback from previous titles in order to shape a new future for the franchise."

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2014.

id Software's first Doom 4 project "didn't have the passion and soul"

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Senin, 05 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

Bethesda and id Software have spoken about the now-cancelled version of Doom 4, saying that the studio's original attempt at the game didn't feel like a Doom game.

A new version of Doom 4 is now underway at id Software, but in an interview with IGN studio director Tim Willits spoke about why it cancelled its first attempt.

"It wasn't one thing," explained Willits. "It wasn't like the art was bad, or the programming was bad. Every game has a soul. Every game has a spirit. When you played Rage, you got the spirit. And [Doom 4] did not have the spirit, it did not have the soul, it didn't have a personality. It had a bit of schizophrenia, a little bit of an identity crisis. It didn't have the passion and soul of what an id game is."

"Everyone knows the feeling of Doom, but it's very hard to articulate," added Willits.

Doom 4 was originally confirmed in May 2008 via a press release, though the project was scrapped in late 2011. Bethesda confirmed in April 2013 that development on the game had been rebooted, after sources at the time claimed the original version of Doom 4 borrowed many of its creative elements from modern shooters such as Call of Duty.

Bethesda vice president of marketing Pete Hines added that Doom 4 needs to be worth the wait. "If it was like the quintessential, 'yup, that's Doom 4,' then we wouldn't be having this conversation," he said.

"But, it was something that we looked at and the id guys looked at and said, look, it's not even that something is necessarily bad. But is it good enough? You can make a game and say, 'that's not a bad game, but it's not as good as an Elder Scrolls game should be,' and there's a difference…it's not great. It's not amazing. It's not what people have waited all this time for. It needs to be like 'this was totally worth the wait.'"

"I think what the guys at id are working on is…they're pushing the boundaries and challenging themselves. I don't want anybody to look at id's next project and have this reaction that it's still stuck in the '90s," concluded Hines.

While images of Doom 4 have surfaced online, these are believed to have been from the now-scrapped version. "Those images have nothing to do with what you're gonna see in Doom 4," said id Software design director Matthew Hooper.

The rest of the top 10 was filled by all the usual suspects: Far Cry 3 in sixth, LEGO Batman 2 seventh, Call of Duty: Black Ops II in eighth, Tomb Raider ninth, and Assassin's Creed III tenth.

Ubisoft says there's an overall ending to Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft has said that it has a planned ending for Assassin's Creed, and that the series follows an overall arc despite its annual release schedule.

Speaking in an interview with Eurogamer, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag director Ashraf IsmaiI said that the series' multiple development teams all follow an overall arc. "We have multiple development teams, then we have the brand team that sits on top and is filled with writers and designers concerned with the series' overall arc," said Ismail.

"So there is an overall arc," he continued, "and each iteration has its place inside this."

Assassin's Creed has attracted its share of criticism for adopting an annual release schedule, but Ismail says that the team has an overall ending in sight, and there are multiple ways for Ubisoft to get there.

"We have an idea of where the end is, what the end is," explained Ismail. "But of course [Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot] announced we are a yearly title, we ship one game a year. So depending on the setting, depending on what fans want, we've given ourselves room to fit more in this arc. But there is an end."

Ismail also says one of the advantages to having multiple studios working on the franchise simultaneously is that the various teams get to work in conjunction to plan plot points and characters ahead of time.

"We're now able to seed stuff earlier and earlier in our games," Ismail said. "So for example in [ACIV] we have Edward, who was seeded in AC3. But there's a lot more stuff in our game that is hinting at other possibilities."

Ubisoft Toronto, which is currently readying the release of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, has already begun work on 2014's Assassin's Creed game. Ubisoft itself has said it does not expect ACIV to outperform its predecessor commercially.

Valve's Dota 2 International Championship begins

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Minggu, 04 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

World's best teams descend on Valve's headquarters in Seattle to compete for over $2.8 million.

Valve's yearly Dota 2 Championships, The International, which is now in its third year, have begun with nearly 400,000 concurrent live viewers within hours of going live.

The world's best Dota 2 teams have descended onto Valve's headquarters in Seattle to compete for what is now over $2.8 million in prize money. Teams have flown in from around the world, including 2011 International Champions Na'Vi from Ukraine, 2012 International Champions Invictus Gaming from China, and 2013 favorites Alliance from Sweden.

In addition to the main tournament, Valve will also be hosting a 1v1 Solo Championship, and an All-Star match with players voted on by the fans. Star players competing in both include Danil "Dendi" Ishutin from Na'Vi, Luo "Ferrari" Feichi from Invictus Gaming, Jonathan "Loda" Berg from Alliance, and Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung from Orange Esports. A full list of teams and competitors can be found on the official International site.

"Despite the importance of the tournament itself, I think players will remember the All Stars and 1v1 matches with great fondness," Dota 2 analyst Bruno Carlucci told GameSpot. "One can only imagine how much some of these legends dreamt of playing with each other on a LAN environment, or even, for some of the youngest competitors, face their idols in a 1v1 and prove themselves to the world as the best individually skilled player."

The prize pool, which continues to increase by $2.50 with every purchase of the $10 Interactive Compendium, is the largest amount ever given out for a single-event in competitive gaming/eSports history.

"TI3 is already the tournament with the biggest prize pool in eSports," Carlucci said. "With such an amazing start in stream numbers, I'm betting it will soon become the biggest tournament in stream viewer numbers as well."

Last year Riot's Season 2 World Championships peaked at 1.1 million concurrent viewers watching online only, making it the most watched competitive gaming event of all time.

The International 3 Main Event will begin on August 7 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Washington. The entire event will be streamed on the in-game spectator client Dota TV, and on TwitchTV. GameSpot eSports will be at the event to sit down with Valve regarding the release of Dota 2 and The International, and provide live coverage all week long.

Top Five Skyrim Mods of the Week - Kevin VanNord and the Kevin VanSword

@NovahJCMP PC as in the machine, definitely do so. Purely from the gaming standpoint, apart from mods you also get some neat discounts on PC games. If you are serious about it, make sure you get some advice and make a custom-built one, not a pre-built PC. More often than not you're going to get more performance for less money with a custom-built PC.

As for Skyrim PC version, wait a bit and go get The Elder Scrolls Anthology with all Elder Scrolls games, because if you get bored with Skyrim, you may want to play the previous games and there are mods that can make both Morrowind and Oblivion look pretty up-to-date.

Warframe Review

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Sabtu, 03 Agustus 2013 | 19.51

Creeping through the eerily quiet corridors of an enemy space station, you move with a coiled fluidity. You are a potent weapon, ready to unload a clip, unleash a melee attack, or uncork a powerful elemental ability at a moment's notice. That moment arrives when you come upon one of the robotic menaces or armored soldiers that stand in your way, and then all hell breaks loose. You leap into the fray, sword slashing and guns blazing as you make a hash out of those who would oppose you. Warframe's martial abilities and nimble maneuvers can combine to create satisfying combat, but a tendency toward repetition and sluggish progress dampen this free-to-play brawler's appeal.

I don't want to set the world on fire, just the robot thingies.

In Warframe, you play as a Tenno, a member of a species of ancient warriors that have reemerged to lay waste to the various nefarious species populating the solar system. Your foes include the Grineer, a jackbooted army of deteriorating humanoid clones; the Corpus, a mix-and-match crew of robotic and human parts; and the Infestation, a bunch of shambling organic creatures that vaguely resemble the Flood from the Halo series. While your enemies are visually uninteresting, a lot of the Tenno suits and weapons have a great sense of style that imbues Warframe with a spark of personality. Each species has a cursory backstory, and there is some lore to be found buried in the menus, but there's no narrative thrust or intrigue to speak of. And so you run mission after mission, moving outward from the sun as you level up your loadout and become a more proficient killer.

The core combat of Warframe is straightforward. This is a third-person action game in which you wield two primary weapons and a melee weapon against foes who are largely content to come right at you. You also gain suit powers that allow you to dash and slash through a bunch of enemies, or stun all foes within a certain radius, though these abilities can change drastically depending on what suit you equip. You could unleash fiery maelstroms, turn invisible, create a decoy, use teleportation to switch places with an enemy, or manipulate your foes to fight against their allies. Acquiring new suits, however, requires a significant investment of time or money (more on this later).

Regardless of what powers you have equipped, you can often wage effective war against your enemies by firing on them from a distance, then slicing up the ones who manage to get close. This tactic grows tiresome after a while, however, and doesn't serve you well as you take on tougher levels. Fortunately, you can combine your ability to jump, sprint, and crouch into an acrobatic array of slides, flips, jump kicks, wall runs, leaping slashes, and more. Though there's a certain rigidity to your movement, your mobility is one of the most interesting and enjoyable things about Warframe, and it's fun to zip around your enemies, slashing and shooting until the only ones left standing are your fellow Tenno.

You can run Warframe missions with up to three other players, and while flying solo is definitely possible in the early going or when you're grinding for experience or resources, teaming up becomes necessary as you tackle tougher missions. Fighting your way through fiendish hordes with the help of some allies can be very satisfying, especially when there's a good mix of powers in play. Coordinating with friends is the best way to get this kind of experience, because jumping into matches or having folks join you can lead to lopsided situations. If there's a gap in player level or a mismatch with the mission challenge, as often happens, your cooperative missions can devolve into all-out sprints as players easily cut their way through enemies they far outclass.

To minimize such gaps, you can focus on playing only new missions, since those tend to scale toward the upper bound of your capabilities. However, many of the environments in Warframe are reused frequently. You may be taking a different route through an enemy ship or encountering different environmental effects in the asteroid base, but you can't escape seeing the same spaces over and over again. This repetition combines with the lack of enemy variety (each species has only a handful of different units) to make many Warframe missions feel very similar to one another.

To spice things up, you may want to acquire a new gun, a new melee weapon, or a new suit. Warframe is free to play, but you must spend either time or money to acquire new items. Currently, new suits range roughly from $5 to $25, with new weapons falling close to the lower end of that spectrum. Alternatively, you can purchase blueprints to craft new weapons and suits using in-game currency. It takes a significant amount of time to save up the money for a new blueprint, and then you must spend even more time acquiring the resources to actually craft it.

Even if you skip the lengthy crafting process by using real-world currency, you still have to spend time leveling up your new gear. Jumping into a high-level mission with a brand-new suit is a death sentence, so it's back to lower levels to grind for experience. As your gear levels up, you gain more slots to modify it using boosters picked up during combat. Adding abilities to suits, improving the attributes of your gear, and imbuing your weapon with elemental damage are just some of the things mods can do. Unfortunately, the system to apply and improve mods is poorly laid out and barely explained, leaving you on your own to figure things out.

Some problematic menus pale in comparison to Warframe's real problem: a pervasive tendency toward repetition. Whether you're forging ahead with a high-level suit or leveling up a new one, Warframe repeats enemies, environments, and scenarios too frequently. Without new challenges for your combat abilities, the excitement soon dries up, leaving you without a compelling reason to keep playing. This free-to-play shooter is still technically in beta, so changes may come that make a substantive difference. But as of now, Warframe's interesting combat mechanics are too quickly overcome by the grind of repetition.
